Those Who Carry Us, inspiration is drawn from silent film, particularly Charlie Chaplin and his character “The Tramp.” We follow the inner struggling landscape of a dancer moving through the public space, before transitioning into the dance stage and performs in front of an audience with two different high-heeled flamenco shoes. The film stems from the fragile economic and social status of cultural workers in Swedens society, connected to the Swedish government’s lack of interest in culture, inflation and rising poverty. Those Who Carry Us serves as a poetic protest against the Tidö government and are connected to the election year.
